George Carlo

A true wandering bluesman, George has dabbled professionally in everything from medical research, epidemiology and law to coaching professional golfers and baseball players.  However, his real passion is music all over the board with early musical adventures including playing the accordion in Italian restaurants in New York and singing leads in plays including Hello Dolly and West Side Story.  A native of Jamestown, New York home of the 10,000 Maniacs who were his high school contemporaries in the 70s and 80s, he honed skills in a number of bands in the northeast, including The Johnstown Flood, Billy McEwen and The Soul Invaders and D.C. Law.  He came to the Backyard Blues Band in 1994 in a favor from Bruce as a one-night fill-in and never left.  Musical influences include Eric Clapton, the Moody Blues and Lawrence Welk.
